There are many ways that glass can get scratched, but it mostly happens on tempered glass. Someone unaware of how to work safely with glass can damage it, especially during new construction cleaning. (Beware! If hiring another company or doing the cleaning yourself, ensure that it is being done in a way that won't scratch the glass!) Never use a green 3M pad on glass. Many novices make this mistake. Again, tempered glass is most prone to scratching because of "glass fines" or extremely small particles of glass not being removed when the glass is reheated and it bonds to the surface of the glass. Razor blades may then catch on these glass fines and pull them across the glass, scratching it. For more information on this subject, visit
